While Racists Shout

`Biblical Quotations' Like a Miniature
Concordance Aiding Scholars, Orators

By DR. SHEILA LAMPERT

In. Israel live Christians, Baha'is and Druze
Vietnamese and Moslems, Japanese and Jews
And almost any other group you'd care to choose.

"Biblical Quotations"
(Facts on File Publications)
is not a Concordance. Yet it
approaches the word-
searching encyclopedic
works in a very popular
form.
Jennifer Speake, who has
compiled and edited this
200-page book, succeeded
marvelously in her task of
including the most impor-
tant words from the Bible —
from the Old Testament and
the New Testament — guid-
ing reader and researcher to
their sources.
Actually, this is a volume
filled with quotations from
biblical sources.
In addition to the Old
and New Testaments, as
the sources are referred
to, Miss Speake also
utilized the important
words and the quotations
alluding to them in the
Apocrypha. Thus, the
works also included as
sources for the compila-
tion in "Biblical Quota-
tions" include:
I Esdras, II Esdras, Tobit,
Judith, Wisdom, Ecclesias-
ticus, I Maccabees and II
Maccabees.

Israel's Jews can be Yemenites, black and small
Her Cochin Jews from India are black and tall
While her African Falashas come in any size at all.

All sizes Wand colors and faiths and creeds
Have found a place in Israel to suit their needs
But those who cry "racism" can't match Israel's deeds!

So when you hear the term "racism" bandied about
Just speak up quietly, let the real racists shout,
And reveal the facts so the truth can come out.

"Biblical Quotations"
lends itself for enjoyment in
study, for reading, as well as
applications in writing arti-
cles, in public speeches, for
many occasional references
to the Bible.
The quotations can be
very easily located in the
references in the index to
this volume.
Some popular phrases can
be located through refer-
ence to a single word, even if

lished by the American
Jewish Committee.

those who aim to get diverse
groups to work together for
a common cause, was writ-
ten by Cherie Brown under
a commission from the AJ-
Committee's Institute on
Pluralism and Group Iden-
tity. It has a foreword by
New York Governor Mario
M. Cuomo.

the entire phrase is not in
the Bible. Explanatory are
"Burning Bush" and "Pro-
digal Sons" which can be lo-
cated_ respectively under

The value of this volume
is quite apparent.
