Young Adult Programs in Israel
Discussed at Conference Here
Programs for both high
school youth and young
adults of college and post-
college age will be among
the workshops to be held at
the second community-wide
"Step Up To Israel" Confer-
ence slated for 12:30 p.m.
Feb. 12 at the main Jewish
Community Center.
The programs will cover
travel and study oppor-
tunities in Israel, both short
term (six months or less)

Zionist Youth Foundation
based in New York, and
Rabbi Harold Loss of Tem-
ple Israel who will serve as
the local resource specialist
since he has conducted over
the past 13 years, eight con-
gregational youth pilgrim-
ages to Israel.
Accompanying the two
specialists will be several
students who have partici-
pated on a variety of travel
experiences to Israel and
who will be present to an-
swer questions.
Danny Pins, a shaliakh
of the Israel Aliya Center
in Boston, will conduct a
workshop on university
programs. Two local
shlikhim, Itzhak Mintz
and Dubi Avigur, will
conduct a workshop on
kibutz and garin.
Mintz is a seven-year
member of Kibutz Bet Gue-
rin in the Lachish region in
the south of Israel. Origi-
nally, he was in charge of
cultural affairs and a garin
Nahal instructor. Cur-
rently, he is the K.A.D.

Avigur has worked with
youth from development
cities and garinim. He was
the kibutz secretary work-
ing in Tel Aviv at the
Hashomer Hatzair head
office promoting aliya to the
kibutz. Presently, he is
based in Ann Arbor repre-
senting the Kibutz Aliya
Desk, Artzi Movement, and
as the shaliakh to
,Hashomer Hatzair.
Religious school students,
unaffiliated students and

Bnai Brith Women and
the Bnai Brith Girls will
have their annual joint pro-
gram Feb. 5 at the main
United Hebrew Schools

Registration will begin at

lowed, by a slide presenta-
tion on Tay-Sachs disease.
A representative of Ford
Hospital will lead a discus-
sion after the presentation.
Following lunch, there
will be a fashion show
featuring cosmetics and
