There are sec- tions on discernment, Torah study, idolatry and repen- tence. The regimen for daily liv- ing proposed in "The Book of Knowledge" by the 12th Century philosopher- physician is based on the premise that it is a duty to enjoy life as fully as possible while aiming at moderation in all its aspects. Dr. Russel was affiliated for many years with the Royal College of Physicians in Scotland and was a pathologist at Christie Hos- pital in Manchester, England. Rabbi Weinberg was rabbi of the Edinburgh Hebrew Congregation in Scotland.
