The Midrasha, College of
Jewish Studies, is taking
registration for classes
scheduled to begin Feb. 5.
Classes at the Midrasha
are offered on a 16-week
credit or non-credit basis.
Credit may be applied
towards a bachelor's degree
in Jewish studies or Hebrew
studies or an associate de-
gree. Subjects offered in-
clude: Hebrew language
and literature, Yiddish lan-
guage and literature,
Jewish history, contempor-
ary Jewish literature, bibli-
cal literature and Jewish
philosophy.
Mini-courses also are of-
fered. Special programs are
held in cooperation with
Hadassah, National Coun-
cil of Jewish Women,
Pioneer Women/Na'amat
and Community Network
for Jewish Singles.
Midrasha on Wheels is
available for groups of
seven or more persons
who wish to study to-
gether on a non-credit
basis outside of the Mid-
rasha building. The Mid-
rasha helps design the
curriculum and provides
the resource person.

JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
At its peak the Jewish
community of Nicaragua
was only about 200 in
number. It was aprosper-
ous, well-integrated, re-
spected segment of the mid-
dle class and its reaction to
the revolution was that of
the middle class in general.
Today there are not more
than two or three Jews left.

"The Jewish Contribution
to the Performing Arts," at
1 p.m. Feb. 8 in the LaMed
Auditorium of the main
United Hebrew Schools
building. Luncheon will be
served at noon.
Paul Winter will speak on
"The Yiddish Theater and
the Jewish Influence on the
Broadway Musical."
