Susan, Norman Pappas

involved in the revitaliza-
tion of the American
Women for Bar-Ilan, De-
troit Chapter, as well as
with the arrangements for
this past year's annual
dinner.
The university has the
lowest ratio of dormitory
space to student body in Is-
rael. This forces many stu-
dents to live in expensive
off-campus housing, placing
them in strained financial
conditions. The expansion
and upgrading of the dor-
mitory system.is among the
university's top priorities.
Prior to his two-year
term as chairman, Pap-
pas served as the univer-
sity's endowment chair-
man in Detroit, establish-
ing the first organized ef-
fort on Bar-Ilan's behalf
to obtain endowments
and deferred gifts. Along
with Lawrence Jackier
he led a group of De-
troiters to campus as part
of a United Jewish Ap-
peal mission. He is on the
National Young Leader-
ship Cabinet, is a board
member of Temple Beth
El, and is active with
Anti-Defamation League
and with State of Israel
Bonds. In addition to her
Bar-Ilan responsibilities,
Mrs. Pappas has been
active in Women's Di-
vision of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation.
For information concern-
ing Bar-Ilan's dormitory
program, call the univer-
sity's Detroit office, 398-
