Holocaust Center Seeks Data on Destroyed Europe Towns Gathering information about the more than 4,500 European Jewish corn- munities destroyed or deci- mated during the Holocaust will be the special focus of research by Detroit's Holocaust Memorial Cen- ter. Memorial Center Direc- tor Rabbi Charles Rosenzveig has announced that in preparation for its formal opening later this year, the HMC is now actively engaged in acquir- ing data on these 4,500 communities. Rabbi Rosenzveig stated, "Some information exists on about 500 of the larger and better known places where Jews lived, but unfortunately even this data is incom- plete." Elsewhere in today's issue of The Jewish News, the Holocaust Memorial Center has placed an ad list- ing about 700 European Jewish communities.
