Operation 1,000, known as Project Elef, now in its second year, is aiming at sending 1,000 families to Is- rael this summer offering them an inside look at fam- ily life in Israel. Participat- ing families will be guided through their one-month visit to Israel in July or August by local families. They will choose from a variety of specially de- signed programs includ- ing; kibutz or moshav liv- ing, a mini ulpan, ex- periencing settlement life in Judea and Samaria, Jewish history and Torah study, civilian work with the army or participating in an exten- sive touring program while staying in a rec- reational moshay. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Kaufman, who participated in a similar program, will be participants in the work- shop. Various workshops are planned for the afternoon and educational booths will be set up by the co- sponsoring organizations. Israeli food will be avail- able.
