The scholarship, awarded by the Harry and Sarah Laker Israel Youth Schol- arship Fund, is an annual award of at least $1,500 to enable a local young Jewish male or female to attend a leading university in Israel for a full academic year. Israeli institutions accre- dited for this scholarship are Hebrew University, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Tel Aviv Uni- versity, Bar-Ilan Univer- sity and Haifa University. To qualify, applicants must be residents of the metropolitan Detroit area, must be currently attending a college or university in the conti- nental United States, and must have applied to a school of higher learning in Israel.
