Shapiro, execu- tive vice president of Sinai Hospital of Detroit, was elected to the board of the Consortium of Jewish Hos- pitals. Shapiro is currently a member of the board of di- rectors of the Michigan Parkinson Foundation. He is a member of several Michigan Hospital Associa- tion committees and task forces including the Com- mittee on Public Policy and Government. He also is a member of the American College of Hospi- tal Administrators, the De- troit Jewish Home for Aged Planning Committee and New Detroit's Minority Business Development Committee. Shapiro joined Sinai's staff in January 1970, and in May 1976 was named administrator responsi- ble for the overall opera- tion of the hospital. He was made vice president for administration two years later. In 1979 he be- came the hospital's chief executive officer.
