, - MERC Hearing Postponed, Judge to Hear Akiva Case The Michigan Employ- ment Relations Commis- sion has postponed the scheduled hearing on unfair labor practice charges brought by striking teachers against Akiva He- brew Day School. Last Friday, Federal Dis- trict Judge George Woods agreed to hear a suit brought by Akiva against MERC. The school claims the state has no jurisdiction over the school based on the separation of church and state provisions of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. MERC has postponed its hearings, which were scheduled for this week, until Judge Woods decides the Constitutional ques- tion. A trial date of Jan. 31 has been set. When the owner or the driver of the car could not be found, the IDF crews fired at the vehicle to detonate any possible bombs in it, in ac- cordance with standing army regulations in such instances, of which the Lebanese residents were fully aware. Meanwhile, the .IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv strenuously denied re- ports from Lebanon, in- cluding allegedly eye- witness reports, that its - air raid last week on pro- Iranian terrorist bases near Baalbek had caused heavy civilian casualties. These reports claimed that 100 people had been killed and 400 wounded. The on-the-spot reports charged that Israeli planes had deliberately chosen civilian targets.
