Why? Because...
• Locally, the Allied Jewish Campaign reaches into almost every )ewish
home. Among the services of its 16 member agencies: The Jewish Family
Service offers direct financial assistance to those on marginal incomes.
The Jewish Home for Aged and)ewish Federation Apartments will
help several hundred more elderly people in new facilities at
Maple-Drake. The Jewish Community Center provides camper-
ship assistance for nearly half of the 1,100 youngsters in its
summer camping programs. The )ewish Vocational Service &
Community Workshop serves nearly 5,000 people a year,
including vocational counseling and placement, as well as pro-
grams for inner-city elderly.

SUNDAY
• in Israel, 17,000 disadvantaged teens are getting an education
and a head start in life through Youth Aliyah programs. Several
thousand aged and handicapped persons are being helped
in sheltered workshop programs. The dream of building
the land is slowly becoming a reality as new settlements
are being built in the Negev and Galilee.
• Around the world, thousands of our people would be completely isola-
ted without the )oint Distribution Committee. With Campaign support, )DC
provides meals, clothing, education and other services in 30 countries.
