Born in Kingston, N.Y., _Mrs. Stone was a charter member of East Side Chap- ter of Bnai Brith, and a member of Women of Jewish National Fund and Women's American ORT. She leaves three daugh- ters, Mrs. Harry (Pearl) Goodman, Mrs. Kenneth (Claire) Goldin of Encino, Calif., and Mrs. Herbert (Sondra) Feinstein; two brothers, Ben Ersher and Sidney Ersher; three sis- ters, Mrs. Ella Cohen, Mrs. Anna Tanzman and Clara Gordon of California; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. Phyllis Krause Phyllis D. Krause, a member of Jewish com- munal organizations, died Dec. 18 at age 62. A native Detroiter, Mrs. Krause was a member of Hadassah, City of Hope, National Council of Jewish Women, Women's Ameri- can ORT and Bnai Brith. She leaves her husband, Harry; a son, Steve of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. ,Howard (Cindy) Babcock; a sister, Mrs. William (Arlane) Veis of Encino, Calif.; and four grandchildren. B. Rothenberg Barney Rothenberg, re- tired owner of Dells Inn in Waterford Twp., died Dec. 16 at age 82. Born in New York City, Mr. Rothenberg was a member of the Masons, Elks and Shriners. Husband David and Son Max Mae Kaufman Henry Wald Mae L. Kaufman, former Detroiter and Lansing resi- dent who was active in a variety of Jewish and civic causes, died Dec. 13 at age 72. Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Kaufman resided for many years in Indianapolis, Ind., Lansing and Detroit and at the time of her death made her home in Boca Ra-. ton, Fla. Among her affiliations, she included: Cong. Beth Shalom (Oak Park), Cong. Shaarey Zedek (East Lans- ing), Azras Achim, Hadas- sah, City of Hope and was a volunteer at Sparrow Hos- pital in Lansing, at the Kirschbaum Center, and for the American Red Cross, United Way and American Cancer Society. Mrs. Kaufman is sur- vived by her husband, Al- bert; two sons, Barry R. of Oak Park and Edward J. of Waitesfield, Vt.; a daugh- ter, Mrs. Charles (Nancy) Gladfelter of West Bloom- field; two brothers, Ben Ladin of California and Jack Ladin of Indianapolis; and six grandchildren. Henry Wald, past president of the Ivan S. Bloch Lodge of Bnai Brith, died Dec. 16 in North Miami Beach, Fla. He was 66. Born in Toronto, Ont., Mr. Wald came to Detroit in 1967 and became active in communal organizations, among them the Bnai Moshe Men's Club. He moved to New York in 1969, where he became a consultant and adviser to Puccini Clothes of Fifth Avenue and was instru- mental in developing the clothing firm and then re- locating it to Florida. When he moved to Florida in 1971, Mr. Wald was among the founders of a community synagogue in the Del Prado condo complex where he lived. He served as a lay rabbi at the com- plex and for the past three years was its president. Mr. Wald is survived by his wife, Faye; a son, Frank of Southfield; and a daugh- ter, Rosalie of North Miami Beach. Esther Magy Esther Hutton Magy, a member of Jewish com- munal organizations, died Dec. 20. A native Detroiter, Mrs. Magy was the office man- ager in her husband's ac- counting office. She was a member of Temple Israel, and held membership in Women's American ORT and Hadassah. She leaves her husband, Irving S.; a son, Stuart; a daughter, Ronna Jo of Los Angeles, Calif. Manuel Simon Manuel S. Simon, de- partment head of counsel- ing at Mumford High School, died Dec. 16. A native Detroiter, Mr. Simon was with the Detroit Public Schools for 43 years. He was a-member of the Na- tional Association of Tem- ple Educators and was prin- cipal of the Temple Israel High School. He leaves his wife, Gale; a son, Bruce of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Samuel (Laura) Milan. Ruth Burnstine Ruth - Burnstine, a member of Jewish com- munal organizations, died Dec. 16 at age 79. Born in Detroit, Mrs. Burnstine was a member of Cong. Shaarey Zedek and Hadassah. She leaves a son, Dr. David; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Barbara) Nelson and Mrs. Gerald (Jeanne) Kabeck; a brother, Sam Block of Los Angeles, Calif.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dr. Sol Forman Dr. Sol Forman, a dentist with offices in Southfield, died Dec. 15. Born in Russia, Dr. For- man was a dentist for 52 years. He was a member of Cong. Shaarey Zedek and its men's club of which he was a board member, the Shaarey Zedek choir and Bnai Brith. S. Borenstein Samuel Borenstein, a former Detroit realtor, died Dec. 14 in Minneapolis, Minn. He was 86. Mr. Borenstein lived most of his life in Detroit. He moved to Minneapolis 10 years ago. While in Detroit he was affiliated with the Hannah Schloss Old Tim- ers, Pisgah Lodge of Bnai Brith and Cong. Beth Tefilo Emanuel Tikvah.
