TEARS COULDN'T be

kept back by some of those
who were at Jewish Com-
munity Center when Gary
Feinberg was given pre-
marital party by the
"Cronies" . . . group of 19
special education teenagers
and young adults that
meets Sunday afternoons at
Center . . . He's been with
the retarded for five years,
taking them on summer
camping trips and other oc-
casions.
The "Cronies" came up in
pairs singing a song or say-
ing how much they loved
him or how happy they were
to have met him or "I wish I
was marrying you" ... Be-
cause of Gary's dedication to
the program, group mem-
bers, under supervision of
staffers, put the thing to-
gether . . . They even ca-
tered it themselves, with
each member bringing a
'dish prepared by them .. .
Group member. Robert
Werney emceed "roast" as
they expressed their love
and gratitude for his friend-
ship and guidance while
wishing Gary, son of Bar-
bara and Roy Feinberg, and
Shelli Barish, daughter of
Ruth and Sid Barish a life of
much happiness together.

among the big reasons for
much resurgence of fire-
places in homes again ..
But, according to Hershel
Stuart at Federal Hardware

been mostly unused until

JERUSALEM — Jewish
day school education is
gaining ground in relation
to the overall Jewish educa-
tion picture in the Diaspora,
according to a new report,
"Jewish Education At-
tained in Diaspora Com-
munities, Data for 1970s,"
written by Dr. Sergio De-
llaPergola and Nitza
Genuth of Hebrew Univer-
sity.
The researchers sought to
find out what percentage of
the total Jewish population
has received any sort of
Jewish education and what

sub-groups in terms of the
quality and extent of the
education they received.
They discovered that 28
percent of the Jewish popu-
lation in the United States
who had received any kind
of Jewish education studied
in day schools, while in
South Africa it was 20 per-
cent, in Italy 76 percent and
in France 53 percent.
The percentage of those
learning in Jewish day
schools seems to be on the
rise today, as compared to
past decades, the resear-
chers emphasize, accom-
panied by a decline in
supplementary Jewish edu-
cation, especially afternoon
schools.
