HU, Conservatives Offer

Study Opportunity in Israel

JERUSALEM — The
Rothberg School for Over-
seas Students of the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem
has joined with the United
Synagogue of America
(Conservative) in a project
aimed at providing a new
dimension of Jewish knowl-
edge and identity for North
American Jewish high
school graduates.
Known as "Nativ"
("path"), the one-year pro-
gram involves a semester of
Jewish and Israel studies,
taught in English, plus He-
brew language ulpan at the
university, field trips,
seminars, training in group
leadership, and volunteer-
ing. This is followed by ap-
proximately four months of
working and studying at a
kibutz and a seminar in
Jerusalem.
The program is intended
for college-bound youth
with demonstrated leader-
ship abilities and commit-
ment to the principles of the
United Synagogue Youth
movement. The intention is
for the participants to as-
sume a role as youth leaders
of the movement following
their return to the U.S. or
Canada and their com-
mencement of university
studies.

The program has
grown steadily from its
initial enrollment of 18 in
1981, to 30 in 1982, and 45
this year. An estimated -60
students are anticipated
for next year.

Students are screened for
the program upon applica-
tion to the United Syna-
gogue of America, 155 Fifth
Ave., New York, N.Y.
10010.

misunderstanding

When men and women hear that we charge only $8 for hair
color or a hair cut, they don't understand.

They expect beauty school dropouts! Dumb styling!

What they get is: the terrific veillette look, trendy cuts,
