Students Excel
'in Math Contest
Area students finished in
the top five percent in Part I
of the 27th annual Michi-
gan Mathematics Prize
competition. Nearly 1,000
qualified to take the final
examinations this week. -
Roeper students who
placed in the top five per-
cent were Jon Shapiro, 10th
grade; Eric Siegel, 12th
grade; and Steve Newman,
12th grade, who finished in
the top 15 for the second
year.
At Akiva Hebrew Day
School, Sergei Makar-
Limanov, 11th grade,
finished the exam in the top
five percent.

Fields, from Portland,
Ore., is a gradute of Wood-
row Wilson High School and
has been accepted as a
member of the class of 1987
by the University of
Pennsylvania.
Fields will lead a Jewish
Identity selective work-
shop, meet with the AZA
and BBG regional executive
boards, meet with members
of the BBYO board of direc-
tors, and speak to the entire
delegation assembled on his
theme of the year, "Building
the Chapter."
