Jews from Arab
Countries Seen
as Aid to Peace

JERUSALEM (JNI) —
The push for peace in the
Middle East can be aided by
Jews born in Arab coun-
tries, according to Leon
Tamman, co-chairman of
the World Organization of
Jews from Arab Countries.
Tamman, who was born
in Sudan, stressed this view
in London at the organiza-
tion's second international
conference earlier this
month. Tamman estimates
that 4,000 Jews remain in
Syria, 15,000 in Morocco,
200 Jews call Egypt home
and approximately 80 live
in Iraq.
