The pamphlet centers on potential conflicts during the Christmas season which may arise in the public school systems. Parents are asked in "De- cember Dilemma" how they would handle specific situa- tions such as their children being asked to sing Christ- mas carols, or to bring in a Hanuka menorah for "Show and Tell." These questions and others are addressed in the pamphlet. The pam- VISIT OUR PRESENT LOCATION ON NORTHWESTERN HWY. A good teacher is reliable, dependable and true dedicated to excellence, a knowledgeable Jew. He must keep up to date and posted on ideas that are new and educationally channel them for every single Jew. He must meet individual differences, for no-one's quite alike; use stickers, stars and charts with points for each and every tyke. A good teacher is a model to those placed in his charge; he must be an example, do as he says, for his students at large. A good teacher must commit effort, energy and time - to become capable and experienced as he approaches his prime. And when he is a veteran and polished as a jewel a younger one will be-h.ired in to replace him in the school. A student who is learning to be a teacher, too with salary and fringes both diminished, as a rule. For experience counts for little, if the system has to pay and better save a buck or two — who cares, anyway? All cry for better teachers who will care and who will lead but no-one will support them, denying Torah, choosing greed. And schools will cut corners, save a dollar, maybe more; and a generation loses out — why shouldn't they be sore? For you get just what you pay for, on that there is no doubt; and track record and experience are what it's all about. For our values are confused, priorities misplaced when new are hired in to teach and tried and true replaced. Argentina to Fight Bias BUENOS AIRES (JTA) — Dr. Antonio Troccoli, chosen by President-elect Raul Alfonsin to be the Minister of Interior in the new constitutional govern- ment of Argentina, de- scribed anti-Semitism as "a barbarian attitude" which "ought to be definitely and foreVer eliminated from the country," the World Jewish Congress reported. Troccoli's comments were contained in a lengthy interview published by the Jewish weekly, "Mundo Is- raelita." As reported by the Latin American branch of, the WJC, he spoke of the de- termination to protect the freedom and rights of all citizens, stressing, "We are adversaries of discrimina- tion of whatever origin — political, racial, or_religious — so that we will faithfully respect the freedoms related to persons, faiths and politi- cal issues." The Latin American branch of the WJC reported that the unexpected ava- lanche of votes for the Radi- cal Party headed by Alfon- sin resulted in the election to Parliament of four Jewish deputies for the lower chamber (out of a total of 244) and of one sena- tor (out of a total of 46). Those figures may yet in- crease with the final count of votes. In his latest assess- ment, Prof. Manuel Tenenbaum, executive director of the Latin American branch, said that within the Jewish community the climate of relief and relaxation of tension continues along with optimism concern- ing the new political era emerging in the country. But some ambivalence is being observed. The number of those in- terested in aliya has drop- ped sharply, and it is ex- pected that younger Jews will lose interest in commu- nity issues and will, in- stead, become active in the general field.
