Sol White

The Senior Friendship

slide presentation on Israel;

Sol B. White, a member of
the Jewish. War Veterans
and a World War I veteran,
died Nov. 3 at age 91.
Born in Lithuania, Mr.
White lived most of his life
in Flint.
He is survived by two
sons, Charles and Robert,
both of Flint; a daughter,
Lael Hughes of Long Beach,
Calif.; a sister in Southfield;
six grandchildren and one
great-grandson.

Betty Sorkin, a member
of Jewish communal organ-
izations, died Nov. 15 at age
72.
Mrs. Sorkin was a World
War II veteran and a
member of Cong. Beth Is-
rael and its sisterhood,
Hadassah and Jewish War
Veterans.
She is survived by her
husband, Dr. Samuel; a son,
Elliot Lande of Kalamazoo;
a daughter, Linda Alperin
of New York City; and three
grandchildren.

Mrs. Schiff

H. Charlotte Schiff, a
member of Flint Jewish and
community organizations,
died Nov. 28 at age 72.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y.,
Mrs. Schiff was a member of
Flint's Temple Beth El and
its sisterhood, the Flint In-
stitute of Arts, Flint Com-
munity Players and the
Genesee County Medical
Society Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son,
Charles L. of Birmingham;
a daughter, Mrs. Michael
(Joan) Theile of Flint; and
four grandchildren.

Isadore
Goldenberg,
owner and operator of clo-
thing and shoe stores, died
Nov. 6 at age 84.
Born in Poland, Mr. Gol-
denberg was a member of
Flint's Temple Beth El,
Senior Friendship Club of
the Flint Jewish Federation
and Flint Lodge of the Ma-
sons.
He is survived by four
daughters, Mrs. Wallace
(Myrna) Duford of Davison,
Mrs. David (Eileen) Miller
of Chicago, Mrs. Charles
(Leah) Jankowski of
California and Mrs. Morris
(Peppi) Rosenthal of Grand
Blanc; one sister and four
grandchildren,

Center of Metropolitan De-
troit has embarked on a
program aimed at finding
isolated elderly in the com-
munity.
Titled
Project
Mainstream, the service
provides senior adult volun-
teers to contact the isolated
elderly and introduce them
to cultural, educational,
recreational and social ac-
tivities available at the
Morris Branch of the Cen-
ter.

lated elderly individual in

The project is supported
by a grant from the Area
Agency on Aging, Region

2 medium eggplants, peeled
and sliced
3 zucchinis, sliced, unpeeled
2 large onions, sliced
5 tomatoes, sliced
2 tsps. oregano
15 ozs. marinara sauce
6 slices muenster cheese
Pour oil into a 9x13-inch bak-
ing pan. Slice vegetables
thinly. Layer them, sprinkling
each layer with oregano. Pour
marinara sauce over vegeta-
bles. Bake at 350 degrees for
about 1 hour, top with cheese,
and bake another 10-15 min-
utes. Serves 6.
