Patrol Frees
Palestinians
TEL AVIV (JTA) — An
Israel Defense Force patrol
near the town of Jezzine in
south Lebanon Tuesday
freed a group of seven Pales-
tinians who had been seized
by Christian Phalangist
forces.
The seven, who had been
freed last week from the
Ansar prison camp as part
of the general prisoner ex-
change for six Israeli POWs,
were trying to cross the
Awali River over a bridge
near the town, on their way
home to villages in the
Shouf Mountains. The
Phalangists detained the
seven Palestinians, claim-
ing they were terrorists.
The IDF patrol inter-
- vened and freed the seven,
who then crossed the bridge
and continued on to their
homes.
