at Beth_ Achim

Cong. Beth Achim's sis-

host a joint Hanuka latke
party 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 in
the synagogue. Dinner will
be served.
Cantor Max Shimansky
will lead a candlelighting
ceremony, and folksinger

Cantor Hyman Adler and
the sisterhood choir will
sing Hanuka songs and
light the menora. Enter-

by flutist Nikolai Lemberg,
pianist Ludmila
Mulyutina-Lemberg and by
violinist Inna Nedorezov.

Hanuka Cantata Presented
at SZ Laker-Hosted Concert

Composer Martin Kal-
manoff will direct his can-
tata for Hanuka entitled,
"The Feast of Lights," at the
annual Laker family-
sponsored concert 8 p.m.
Dec. 4 at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek.
The presentation will fea-
ture Cantor Chaim Najman
with an • augmented
Shaarey Zedek Choir and
the youth choir, assisted by
an orchestral ensemble, di-
rected by Kalmanoff. Rabbi
Irwin Groner will be the
narrator.
More than 2,300 perfor-
mances of Kalmanoff's
works have been presented
for the musical theater.
Among them are collabora-
tions with Saroyan, Ionesco,
Eric Bentley and Gertrude
Stein.
His works include a

MARTIN KALMANOFF

"sacred service" entitled,
"The Joy of Prayer";
"Kadish for a Warring
World" and "The Victory
at Masada.
More than 80 of his choral
compositions are in print.
The public is invited free
of charge.
