SAO PAULO (JTA) —
The City Council of
Curitiba, capital of Parana
state, has rejected two re-
solutions in support of the
Palestine Liberation Or-
ganization and an indepen-
dent Palestinian state.
The World Jewish Con-
gress Latin American
branch reported that a cam-
paign on behalf of the resol-
utions was organized by the
PLO representative in
Brazil, Farid Sawan, and
the deposed former Mayor of
Hebron, Fahed Kawasme.
The draft texts were intro-
duced by two Council mem-
bers of the opposition
Movimento Democratico
Brasileiro Party.
