Holocaust Center Picks Mames as Academic Unit Head
Henry Dorfman, chair-
man of the Holocaust
Memorial Center executive
committee, has announced
the appointment of Dr. John
Mames as chairman of the
HMC academic advisory
committee. _
Composed of professional
educators, archival experts
and others in the commu-
nity who have been closely
identified with Holocaust
studies and programming,
the academic advisory
committee will provide
guidance and direction to a
variety of HMC research
projects and educational ac-
tivities.
The academic group will
also serve a unique role in
connection with the HMC
special exhibit program.
Each year, the Holocaust
Memorial Center will host
temporary exhibits dealing
with the Holocaust and
European Jewish life.
Members of the aca-
demic committee will aid
in preparing program
guides for each exhibit,
and also assist in prepar-
ing a short monograph on
those exhibits which
focus on specific areas of
Jewish settlement in
Europe. In time, these
monographs will be col-
lected to provide a com-
plete picture of Jewish
life in pre-war Europe.
