"LET THE AWE OF YOUR TEACHER BE THE SAME AS THE AWE THAT
YOU FEEL FOR THE A-MIGHTY"
A Chapter 11 bankruptcy at the expense of the teachers, a
substantial reduction in hours and therefore pay and the specific
hiring of non-union replacements are tactics unworthy of a Jewish
institution of learning.
We call upon the administration of Akiva Hebrew Day School to
follow the torah path and end the confrontation that has resulted
in so much bitterness in this community.

NEW YORK (ZINS) —
Describing the president of
Syria, former U.S. Under
Secretary of State Joseph
Sisco writes, "I have known
President Hafez el-Assad
for years. With Mr. Assad
one has to be on guard. He is
intelligent, engaging, soft
spoken, with a wry sense of
humor.
"He is also Byzantine and
has little compunction
about the ruthless use of
force. He is a very touchy
bargainer, and his first con-
cern is survival. He seeks to
make Lebanon a client
state. He deeply mistrusts
and fears Israelis and has
positioned himself skillfully
to play a bigger role in Arab
politics."
