cation in the communities
outside Israel. Indeed, the
very last international con-
ference he attended was one
at which he succeeded in
putting teeth into the Edu-
cational Fund of COJO
(Conference of Jewish
Organizations) . . . he
never stopped worrying
about the growing inroads
of cultural assimiliation
which threaten young Jews
who never acquired even a
smattering of knowledge
about the Jewish people."
The Pincus Fund,
founded in 1977, sets out "to
promote and assist in the
development of Jewish edu-
cation in the Diaspora in
every possible way." It helps
to fund the training of edu-
cational personnel, educa-
tional resources, materials
and research and the estab-

education in the Diaspora is
likely to occur only within
the context of Jewish educa-
tion.
In evaluating the fund,
some experts believe its
widespread and in-depth
projects may generate a
