Bnai Moshe to Cite the Rubens at Its Annual Israel Bond Dinner On Nov. 20, Bella and Charles Reuben will be the guests of honor at the an- nual Cong. Bnai Moshe tribute dinner on behalf of Israel Bonds. They will be presented with the Israel 35th Anniversary Award. The event will be held in the synagogue's social hall, be- ginning with cocktails at 6 p.m. Dinner co-chairmen are Abe Pasternak and Dr. Ed- ward L. Klarman. Congre- gation president is Michael Grand. Born in Toledo, Ohio, Charles Ruben became a Detroit resident before he was one week old. He attended Central High School, then worked while attending night school at the Detroit Institute of Technology. During World War II he served with the Air.Force Photo Intelligence De- tachment and received the Asiatic Pacific Thea- ter Ribbon with two bronze battle stars, three overseas service bars, the Bronze Star, a Meritori- ous Service Award and a Good Conduct Medal. Following his service discharge, Ruben earned a degree in business ad- ministration at Wayne State University and later earned a CPA cer- tificate. He is a past president and current board member of Bnai Moshe, a past president of the Jewish Ac- countants Guild and a member of the Jewish War Veterans, Morton A. Sil- verman Post. Associated with Bnai Brith since he joined AZA in his youth, he is currently chairman of the budget committee of Bnai Brith Youth Organization and is a member of Henry Morgenthau Lodge. His professional affilia- tions include membership in the Michigan Association of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. Bella Ruben is a native Detroiter who attended Central High School and Wayne State University. She is a life-long member of Bnai Moshe; her parents were charter members of the congregation.
