At 8 p.m. today, Renee Himelhoch and Jill Hooberman will share their special day with Katarina Khaimchayev, of Moscow. Katarina's father, Isaac, was first denied permission to emigrate with his family in 1973. At that time he lost his job at a research insti- tute and has been support- ing his family by doing me- nial labor even though he holds a Doctor of Sciences degree. His own father, Shmuel, obtained permis- sion to leave Russia for Is- rael. He is ill and has not had the opportunity to see his family since 1973. At 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Amy Selik and Karen Gold will share their ceremony with Clara Kagan of Leningrad. Clara's father, Abram . Kagan, has been employed as a senior researcher at the Soviet Academy of Sciences. He has published many sci- entific papers and is a well-known statistician. He has never been permitted to attend any of the several scientific seminars to which he has been invited. Since 1977 he has also been refused permission to emigrate with his family, this, despite the fact that Mrs. Kagan's sister has re- peatedly invited them to join her in Israel. Renee is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mason (Anna) Himelhoch, Jill is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Carol) Hooberman, Karen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Francine) Gold, and Amy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce (Suretta) Selik.
