Romberg conceded that
"members of at least one in-
ternational terrorist group
reportedly are still in Iraq,
apparently under certain
constraints. We will con-

"However, we see no

German Jewish
Cemetery Ruined

BONN (JTA) — Police
are investigating the van-
dalization of one of the four
Jewish cemeteries in Col-
ogne where some 60 graves-
tones were overturned and
partially or completely de-
molished last week.
A spokesman for the local
Jewish community said it
was the most serious desec-
ration of a Jewish burial
ground in Germany since
World War II.
The upended stones were
not daubed with anti-
Semitic slogans as is often
the case in such incidents.
Ironically, the Cologne
cemetery, which is 300
years old, survived the Nazi
era intact.

LONDON — Tourists re-
turning from Prague have
told the International
Council of Jews from
Czechoslovakia that memo-
rial tablets inside the an-
cient Pinkas Synagogue are
disintegrating from the
dampness plaguing the
structure.
A guide told the tourists
that there were no plans to
fix the relatively-new tab-
let's memorializing the
77,000 victims of the
Holocaust in Bohemia and
Moravia.
A spokesman for the
Prague Jewish community,
however, said a more com-
plete list of Jewish victims
was being compiled, but re-
storation of the tablets "will
take considerable time."

TEL AVIV (JNI) — There
are probably only about
75,000 Israelis living in the
greater New York area, ac-
cording to Israeli Consul
General Naphtali Lavie.
"Reports that there are
nearly 500,000 Israelis in
the U.S. are a myth," he
said.
