Event Monday at Main UHS

The Pioneer Women/
Naamat membership-open
house will feature a cantata
about Rahel Yanait Ben-
Zvi, founder of Pioneer
Women/Naamat.
The open house will take
place 7:30 p.m. Monday in
the LaMed Auditorium of
the main United Hebrew
Schools Building.
The cantata will be nar-
rated by Ruth Miller and
Molly Sallen and will fea-
ture the Pioneer Women/
Naamat Choral Group, led

by Sonia Lipenholtz. Solo
performances will be given
by Alice Blumberg and
Myrtle Cohen. Mrs.
Seymour Kraus will be the
accompanist.
The evening also will
feature a talk by Masha
Lubelsky, secretary-
general of Naamat, an-
nounces Ann Kaplan,
membership vice presi-
dent.

inaugurated Sunday as the
fifth president of Brandeis
University.
The event will be marked

Israel to Get
ASHA Funds

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
Sen. Alfonse D'Amato
N.Y.) announced that the
Senate Foreign Operations
Subcommittee of the Ap-
propriations Committee has
adopted his amendment to
increase funding to the
American Schools and Hos-
pitals Abroad (ASHA) prog-
ram by $17.5 million for a
total of $25 million for fiscal
year 1984 with over half of
those funds expected to go to
Israel.
