B'nai David Southfield Rd. at 9 112 Mile Knesset Vote Expected on Shamir Coalition JERUSALEM (JTA) — Premier-designate Yitzhak Shamir is expected to pre- sent his new coalition gov- ernment to the Knesset next Monday and to gain its approval by a majority of at least 61 and possibly 64 votes. This is the view of sea- soned political observers who note that Shamir has apparently satisfied six Likud and independent MKs who made their sup- port of a Shamir govern- ment contingent on his al- lowing more time for efforts to bring the Labor - Align- ment into a national unity coalition. Shamir also ap- pears to have ironed out his difficulties with the Or- thodox Aguda Israel party. The six dissenters had warned that they would not support Shamir's new coali- tion if he brought it before the Knesset for a vote this week. The six are Knesset Speaker Menahem Savidor; Yitzhak Berman; Dror Feigeman; and Dan Tichon, all of Likud's Liberal Party wing; and Mordehai Ben- Porat and Yigael Hurwitz, independents. All are mem- bers of the out-going coali- tion. 15 FOR 12 JOIN B'NAI B'RITH TODAY AND GET 15 MONTHS OF MEMBERSHIP THRU DEC. Benvinisti himself believes that those plans are already a fait accompli, that the MEXICO CITY — This city has six Jewish high schools, two yeshivot, an academy for girls and a seminary for teachers of Hebrew and Yiddish. There are Jewish newspapers in Spanish and Yiddish. West Bank is already an- nexed to Israel in fact if not officially, and that this will result, in a relatively short time, in a bi-national state or dual society with the gravest consequences for Is- rael's future. In any event, the argu- ment over the compromise formula is academic, obser- vers believe, because neither of the major'parties seem prepared to accept it. Al's Foreign Car Service TUNE-UP 4 Cyl. WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court has de- cided not to hear Detroit at- torney Abdeen Jabara's ar- , gument that the National. Security Agency violated his privacy rights by inter- cepting his overrseas tele- grams and turning them over to the FBI without first getting a search warrant. The court ruled 8-1 Mon- day against hearing the 11-year-old case of Jabara, an open supporter of the Palestine Liberation Or- ganization who has been under FBI investigation since 1967. Justice William Brennan offered the only dissenting opinion. EMERGENCY EQUIPPED & AIR CONDITIONED NURSING HOMES HOSPITALS PRIVATE HOMES INDUSTRIAL The Likud-Labor talks collapsed last Friday over issues of foreign policy and West Bank settlements. The nine MKs who insist that further efforts be made have drafted a compromise formula for the divisive set- tlements issue which they think might be acceptable to both sides. Under their formula, de- cisions on settlements•ade by the Cabinet until now would be implemented but new settlement decisions would require approval by two-thirds of the Cabinet, giving the Labor members of a unity government an ef- fective veto. Likud's rightwing and the ultra-nationalist Tehiya party oppose any such compromise. But ac- cording to Meron Ben- vinisti, a leading authority on the settlements issue, it would hardly constrain the settlement drive.
