Noalition Talks Continue
JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Likud and Labor leaders
met again Tuesday, for the
second consecutive day, to
discuss the possibility of
forming a national unity
government. But the only
point on which they agreed
was to meet again.
Thre three-hour session,
like the two-hour session
Monday, brought into stark
focus the difference between
Israel's two main political
blocs on the central issues of
-defense and foreign policy.
At times it seemed the dif-
ferences focused on the
problem of the West Bank
DR. LLOYD PAUL
also visited the Shaare
Zedek Hospital, and his in-
terest in Shaare Zedek
dates from this encounter.
Dr. Sabbota received his
education at Wayne State
University and the Chicago
College of Osteopathic
Medicine. He interned at
Martin Place and Provi-
dence Hospitals, specializ-
ing in cardiovascular dis-
eases.
He is associated with
the Woodland Medical
Group, specializing in in-
ternal medicine and car-
diology. He holds many
professional member-
ships, including the
American College of
Chest Physicians and the
American Heart Associ-
tion.
Dr. Sabbota is a member
of the board of the Hebrew
Free Loan Association, the
Jewish Federation Apart-
ments and is active in Israel
Bonds. He - is a past presi-
dent of Akiva Hebrew Day
School and for 17 years
served on the board of all
Young Israel branches of
metropolitan Detroit.
Like other Israeli institu-
tions Shaare Zedek Hospi-
tal is in a very difficult fi-
nancial situation, caused by
high inflation and the se-
vere curtailment of gov-
ernment support. Funds
raised by the Detroit
Friends annual dinner will
be used for the hospital's
Jerusalem Pediatric
Dialysis Center.
For information and din-
ner reservations, call Alex
Roberg, 968-0684 or 968-
3288.
Israeli Finale
for Simon
and Garfunkel
JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Simon and Garfunkel closed
out their 1983 reunion tour
with two, sellout benefit
concerts in Ramat Gan last
weekend.
The duo sang for a total of
90,000 fans in what were
billed as their last perfor-
mances together.
The Jewish recording
stars bid an emotional
farewell to their audience.
"We should have done this a
long time ago," Garfunkel
said, referring to the pair's
first visit to Israel.
Proceeds from both
weekend concerts will be
donated to various chil-
dren's charities through the
Variety Club of Israel.
settlements, with Likud
favoring unrestricted set-
tlement and Labor advocat-
ing "selective" settlement.
But as Premier-designate
Yitzhak Shamir told repor-
ters, the settlements merely
represr_nted the much
broader dispute over "the
political future of Eretz Yis-
rael.
