Prayers are said before Shabbat dinner. TraditiOn is followed, a
heritage and identity reaffirmed.
At the Jewish AssociatiOn for Retarded Citizens, our goal is
to make each Shabbat and each day a day of pride, dignity and
quality for mentally retarded citizens.
Through JARC, these people explore possibilities and
qualities of life not thought possible 25 years ago. They are able
to live in supervised homes or apartments. They're able to
grow, learn and explore their own identities, their own
heritages, their own dreams and goals.
The Jewish Association for Retarded Citizens is
currently helping retarded men and women reach
those dreams every day. But hundreds more are still
waiting for placement.
