Israel Bonds' Health Division Will Honor Three

The Metropolitan Detroit
Professional Medical
Health Services Division for
State of Israel Bonds will
hold a tribute dinner 6:30
p.m. Oct. 25 at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek. The di-
vision, formerly the Medical
Physicians Division, has

doctors of osteopathy,
podiatrists and other medi-
cal health services profes-
sionals.
Three doctors will be hon-
ored at the dinner: Mathew
Borovoy, Harold Margolis
and Hershel Sandberg.
They each will be the reci-
pients of a State of Israel
Maimonides Award, "in
recognition of their out-
standing dedication to the
art of healing and other
humanitarian endeavors."
Dr. Borovoy, a graduate
of Wayne State University
and Ohio College of Podiat-
ric Medicine, practices in
Oak Park. He is chief sub-
section of the Department of
Podiatry at Sinai Hospital
and has served as director of
the Resident Training
Committee, Straith Memo-
rial Hospital; associated

Dr. Borovoy is a past
president of the Michigan
State Podiatry Association,
the Michigan Division
American College of Foot
Surgeons and the Oak Park
Rotary Club. He is a past
board member of Cong.
Bnai Moshe and a past
chairman of the Medical
Podiatry Division for Israel
Bonds. He is a founder and
past president of the Michi-
gan Foot Health Founda-
tion and is a past chairman
of the Podiatry Section of
Harper Hospital.
He is currently a member
of the American Public
Health Association, the
American Diabetes Asso-
ciation, Michigan Arthritic
Association and the Ameri-
can Podiatric Circulatory
Society. He is also a member
of the Masonic Lodge 530,
the Republican Party 300
Club and Veterans of
Foreign Wars.
Dr. Margolis was
graduated from Michigan
State University and the
Kansas City College of Os-
teopathic Medicine. He is a
member of Phi Sigma Alpha
Honorary Society. Follow-
ing his internship and
internal medicine residency
at Martin Place Hospitals,
he earned a hematology fel-
lowship at Wayne State
University School of
Medicine and served as an
associate professor at the
Michigan College of Osteo-
pathic Medicine.
He is certified in inter-
nal medicine, oncology
and hematology by the
American Osteopathic
Association, and is a
member of the American
Osteopathic Board of
Internal Medicine.
Dr. Margolis is principal
trainer, Martin Place Hos-
pitals Hematology Fellow-
ship, and earned a fellow-
ship from the American Col-
lege of Osteopathic Inter-
nists in 1981. He is co-
chairman of the Martin
Place Hospital tremor
board, a member of the
board of Oakland General
Hospital, and is past chair-
man, Department of Oncol-
ogy, Troy Beaumont Hospi-
tal.
He is on the medical advi-
sory boards of the Michigan
Hemophilia Foundation,
the Hematology-Oncology
Sub-diVision of the Ameri-
can College of Osteopathic
Internists and the
Leukemia Foundation. He
is a member of the Ameri-
can Society of Cancer
Educators and a past asso-

Dr. Sandberg is on the

Medicine, Wayne State
University School of
Medicine.
He did undergraduate
work and earned his MD
degree from WSU. He
served. his internship and
residency at Detroit Re-

Dr. Sandberg is a member
of local and national medi-
cal societies, the Alpha

sional Medical Health Serv-
ices Division and a member
of the Israel Bonds execu-
tive board. He is on the
board of Jewish Federation
Apartments and is active in
the Medical Division of the
Allied Jewish Campaign.
