Look at these examples: g TO CALL ISRAEL: NATIONAL ACCESS CODE COUNTRY CODE CITY CODE JERUSALEM 011 972 2 HAIFA 011 972 4 RAMAT GAN 011 972 3 TEL AVIV 011 972 3 LOCAL NUMBER 5 5 5 5 Editor, The Jewish News: We were shocked by the "revelation" that Rabbi Jack Goldman has dis- covered a new source for kosher meat to be used by all kosher meat dealers in our community. This par- ticular company had been approved by the Council of Orthodox Rabbis more than two years ago; and, indeed, butcher shops under the supervision of the Vaad Harabonim have been using this meat for some time. Purchase of kosher meat by the butcher shop does not guarantee the quality of kashrus observed. The Vaad does not deal with an association but with indi- vidual butcher shops. Each shop has a permanently as- signed mashgiakh (super- visor) who is responsibile for the washing of meat, koshering of meat that is not pre-koshered and mak- ing certain meat does not become "treif" through being ground before kosher- ing. The Council of Orthodox Rabbis of Greater Detroit has always striven to main- tain the highest standards of kashrus in our commu- nity and will continue to do so without seeking spurious publicity.
