Seven Michigan Region AZA and BBG chapters re- ceived All-Around Best Chapter Awards. Chapters receiving the Henry Monsky Award were Akiba AZA, Sen. Philip Hart AZA, Theodor Herzl AZA of Windsor and Gen. Maurice Rose AZA. Named to the Miriam Albert Chapter Honor Roll were Fanny Brice BBG, Dora Savage BBG and Shalom Aviv BBG. Missy Remer of Shoshanna BBG won first place in Originality Plus — Art, while Ida Schuster of Savage BBG won second place in Originality Plus — Literature and Lisa Chatlin of Shalom Aviv BBG won second place in Originality Plus — Handicrafts. Additional second place awards were won by Rose AZA in AZA Newspaper and Brice BBG in BBG Scrapbook. Rishonah BBG was recognized interna- tionally as the chapter with the Outstanding Chapter Membership Recruitment Program. Maurice Rose AZA and Yachad BBG, Windsor, for their Middle East Awareness weekend at the Milan Centre; and Sen. Philip Hart AZA and Dora Savage BBG for their Milan weekend on "The Unknown." Second place awards went to Theodor Herzl AZA, Windsor, for its chapter "Leadership For The Fu- ture" program;. Shoshanna BBG for its Farm Excur- sion; and Theodor Herzl AZA and Aliyah BBG for their Milan weekend focus- ing on "The Jewish Teen: What Makes Us Unique?" The Great Lakes AZA Council announces the selection of Brian Dub- rinsky of Rose AZA as coor- dinator of the BBYO fall Membership Awareness Conclave. Dubrinsky will join Staci Singer of Shalom Aviv BBG in planning the program, which will take place Oct. 21-23 at Camp Maas. BBYO will. hold its an- nual kickoff dance 8:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at Southfield- Lathrup High School. The dance is open to the entire Jewish youth community. Admission is free to all reg- istered members of AZA and BBG. Non-registered members and prospective members will be admitted at a nominal fee. Music will be provided by Jim Michaels of WAAM radio in Ann Arbor. The theme of the dance is "A Circus of Fun!," and AZA and BBG chapters are participating in a poster contest exploring this theme. The deadline for poster contest entries is Sept. 26. Coordinators for the dance are Neal Zipser of Benny AZA and Nancy Fink of Brice BBG. For information, call the BBYO office, 552-8260. The Great Lakes AZA Council will hold its first meeting of the program year 7 p.m. Monday in the Dubin Meeting Room at the Bnai Brith Building.
