Jews as the insider-gioup
dominating the media, cor-
porate industry, banking,
public relations; retailing
and publishing. The
authors admit that the
number of Jews is large in
retailing, the movies, pub-
lishing, network television,
apparel and textiles but
contend that there are few
Jews in banking, public
utilities and heavy indus-
try.
The "Einstein Syndrome"
is to discriminate against
Jews by shunting them into
"Jewish" jobs, in much the
same manner as women are
pushed into "women's"
work and blacks toward
"Negro" work.
There are three parts to
the principal hypothesis
of this study. In the first
place, the authors main-
tain that very few major
corporations recruit at
colleges with large
Jewish enrollments; sec-
ondly, that most major
corporations hire rela-
tively few Jews, given the
availability of Jewish col-
lege graduates; and,
thirdly, that virtually all
of those Jews hired are
placed in "Jewish jobs,"
such as data processing,
accounting, law, person-
nel, public relations, eco-
nomic analysis and other
highly technical fields.
In support of the first
point, it is contended that
large industrial corpora-

tions, insurance companies,
banks and public utilities
systematically avoid
schools with high Jewish
enrollments. While the re-
cruiting patterns of insur-
ance companies are inter-
viewing prospective Jewish
salesmen rather than ad-
ministrators.
