THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Edith, Louis Blumberg JARC Home to Be Dedicated Sept. 13 Norman Wachler, president of the Jewish Association for Retarded Citizens, announces that the dedication of the sixth Haverim Home supervised by the association will take place 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at 107 Elm Park,- Pleasant Ridge. The new facility will be known as the Edith and Louis Blumberg Haverim Home. It is being estab'- lished by Mr. Blumberg and also memorializes the name of his deceased wife, Edith. Syme, national director of education and television production, has been named executive assistant to Rabbi Alexan- der M. Schindler, president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. Rabbi Syme joined the staff of the UAHC following his ordination at the He- brew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1972. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he also heads the UAHC's Computer Institute. Rabbi Syme will continue to serve in this capacity and will also continue as UAHC director of education. Rabbi Schindler also an- nounced that Aron Hirt- Manheimer, editor of "Keeping Posted" and "Re- form Judaism," has been promoted to editor-in-chief of the publications and has also been named associate director of education and di- rector of adult education. Hirt-Manheimer, who joined the UAHC staff in 1977, holds a Master of Education degree from the Universtiy of Southern California and a Master of Jewish Education degree from the Rhea Hirsch School, Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
