WASHINGTON — The
Fashion Design Depart-
ment of the Hadassah
Seligsberg-Brandeis Corn-
prehensive High School set
itself the task of expressing
Israel's varied physical and
social geography in gar-
ments as chic as Paris, yet
as Israeli as the kibutz and
David's Citadel in
Jerusalem.
Every year the students
design a fashion show to
premiere at the annual con-
vention of Hadassah. Then
it tours throughout
America for the benefit of
the Hadassah Israel Educa-
tion Services, W

Hadassah Community Col-
lege and the Hadassah
Vocational Guidance Insti-
tute.
Last year, through the
show and other fund-raising
activities the 370,000 mem-
bers of the volunteer organ-
ization raised $2 million.
This was reported to the
3,000 delegates and guests
attending the four-day con-
vention of Hadassah last

month at the Washington
Hilton Hotel.
The annual show was
the highlight at the con-
vention's closing lunch-
eon. It featured Ameri-
can and Israeli
(Seligsberg) fashions.

Seligsberg-Brandeis Com-
prehensive High School are
divided into eight theme
areas: kibutz, Eilat, Mt.
Hermon, Negev, moshav,
Tel Aviv, Haifa and
Jerusalem.

Rabbi Alexander Schin-
dler, president of the Union
of American Hebrew Con-
gregations, in December
said in an address to 300 Re-
form rabbis that the incor-
poration of the West Bank
into Israel "represents a
threat to the Jewish essence
of the state and the unity of
the Jewish people."
