The Joseph and Edythe
Jackier Law Library
Endowment Fund will be of-
ficially announced at the
upcoming Bar-Ilan dinner
on Sept. 20 at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek. The univer-
sity will honor Joseph Jac-
kier for his quarter-century
of leadership on behalf of
Bar-Ilan, the Detroit com-
munity and the state of Is-
rael.
The Jackier Law Library
Endowment Fund is being
established through both
the personal generosity of
the Jackiers and through
the support of their friends.
The fund will be perma-
nently invested, and its in-
come each year will be used
to purchase books, journals
and equipment for Bar-
Ilan's Law Library, the
largest in Israel.

A unique feature of the
fund will be that its an-
nual interest income will
be augmented by the Is-
raeli government;
through the just-
completed academic year
the total rate of return
was 15 percent.

Jackier began his com-
munal involvement by be-
coming Bar-Ilan dinner
chairman in Detroit. He has
maintained a close associa-
tion with the university
ever since, and currently is
a member of its American
Board of Overseers.
