Risa Handler, of Oak
Park, has been selected as
the volunteer for the state of
Michigan in a< nation-wide
telephone network estab-
lished by the Young Adult
Program of the National
Retinitis Pigmentosa
Foundation.
Miss Handler, a 21-year-
old junior at the University
of Michigan, was diagnosed
as having the disease while
in her teens. Retinitis Pig-
mentosa, or RP, is a group of
inherited disorders which
affect the retina and result
in a progressive loss of
vision.
The telephone network
was designed to provide
persons suffering from RP
with the opportunity to talk
to others coping with the
disease and its symptoms.
