'CONGREGATION SHAAREY ZEDEK INVITES YOU TO ATTEND A
PRE-SELIHOT SHOWING OF .

AS IF IT WERE YESTERDAY .

I ,
A

S IF IT WERE YESTERDAY•docu-

ments the little known heroism of

Ithe Belgian people who, during the

Nazi occupation of Belgium, saved over
4,000 Jewish children from deportation and
extermination, often doing so at the risk of
their own lives. Both individuals and gov-
ernment organizations mobilized against
Hitler's forces to provide these children with
false identities and a hiding place or
accepted them into their own homes and,
in doing so, became outlaws themselves.
Through interviews with those who took
part in the resistance effort, the story is told
with great understatement. complimenting
the modesty of these individuals who
risked everything simply because they
could not let others die. The children, now
grown, retell their experiences and the con-
sequences of these experiences.
Myriam Abramowicz and Esther Hoffen-
berg have made the film as a document of
gratitude.
