Reagan Hits Settlements Again
WASHINGTON (JTA) —
President Reagan, in his
regular Saturday radio ad-
dress to the American
people, reiterated his belief
that Israel's West Bank set-
tlement policy posed "an ob-
stacle to peace" in the Mid-
dle East.
In his address, delivered
from his ranch house near
Santa Barbara, Calif., Re-
agan declared that "the fu-
ture of these settlements
can only be dealt with
through direct negotiations
between the parties to the
conflict. The sooner these

Arabia and Iran have shar-
ply attacked the appoint-
ment of Stuart Young,
former chairman of the pol-

Riyadh Radio critically
reported the decision of
Prime Minister Margaret
Thatcher appointing "a
Jewish businessman and a
supporter of the Israeli
enemy as chairman of the
board of governors of the
BCC."
Teheran Radio noted the
appointment of the "49-
year-old Zionist" was part of
the BBC's "hostile attitude
toward the Islamic Republic
of Iran."

turers of shofarim for Rosh
Hashana and Yom Kippur
have sold an unprecedented
10,000 ram's horns this

The record number takes
on added significance with
the drop in orders, because
of budget constraints, from
the Israeli Ministry of Cul-
ture.
According to shofar pro-
ducer, Yehuda Ruida, the
recent rise, in tourism
"temporarily ,saved us" from
intense competition with
Arab merchants in
Jerusalem.
Yediot Ahronot reported
that a Yemenite-style
shofar, which sounds keen
notes "that please Ameri-
can tourists" costs 30 per-
cent less in the Arab market
than in Jewish shops in
Jerusalem
