The gift was made by Mr. and Mrs. I. Harvey Birnbaum in memory of their son, David, Jochsberger said. The Birnbaum Music Library will be made up of rare Jewish manuscripts, texts, records and cassettes encompassing the range of music from the pre- Renaissance through the twentieth century, making it a- unique resource in this country, Jochsberger said. She said the school was scheduled to be opened next spring. Meanwhile, Helen Coates, Leonard Berns- tein's first music teacher and later his administrative associate, announced the formation of the Leonard Bernstein Archive at the Library. Coates will present the Hebrew Arts School with original manuscripts by Bernstein. Danish Jews Featured in NY Museum Exhibit NEW YORK — "Kings and Citizens: The History of the Jews in Denmark 1622-1983," an exhibition illuminating three cen- turies of Jewish life in De- nmark, will open to the pub- lic at the Jewish Museum on Oct. 23. The exhibition, timed to commemorate the 40th an- niversary of the rescue of the Danish Jews, is being mounted at the invitation of the Danish Government. Committee for Cultural Ex- change, and is affiliated with "Scandinavia Today," an 18-month-long interna- tional arts festival. The exhibition will re- main on view through Feb. 20, 1984, and is then ex- pected to travel to museums in Chicago and Washing- ton, D.C.
