Israel Stressing
Traffic Safety

TEL AVIV (JNI) — Is-
rael's month-long "Let's Get
Through the Summer
Safely" campaign, aimed at
halting the alarming
number of summer traffic
fatalities, will run through
the middle of August.
Israel now ranks second
behind Hong Kong irrterms
of vehicle over-crowding,
with 720,000 cars on its less
than 14,000 miles of road-
way. One study estimated
that during the Tel Aviv
rush hour, the average ve-
hicle moves at the speed of
4.4 miles per hour.
