Beth Shalom Cites Couple
to Benefit Israel Bonds

Bloomfield will be pre-
sented with the State of Is-
rael's 35th _Anniversary
Award at the annual Cong.
Beth Shalom Israel Bond
Tribute Dinner to be held
Aug. 15 in the synagogue
social hall, it was an-
nounced by Michael
Aronow, congregation
president.
Dinner co-chairman are
Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Marcia)
Baker and Mr. and Mrs.
Michael (Janice) Schwartz.
The Tarnoffs, married for
33 years and members of
Beth Shalom for 28 years,
will be paid tribute "for
their long-time and con-
tinuing service to their
synagogue, their commu-
nity and the state of Israel."

Beth Shalom Men's Club
and the Resettlement Serv-
ice of Jewish Family Serv-
ice.
Mrs. Tarnoff is a past
chairman of a BBYO "Walk
for Israel" and is a life
member of Bnai Brith
Women. She is a member of
the Beth Shalom Sisterhood
and served as vice
president, ways and means,
for the sisterhood; was a
synagogue board member;
and was editor of the Beth
Shalom newsletter.
She is a member of Bnai
Brith Morgenthau Chap-
ter; Michigan Region
BBYO, Pioneer Women
and Hadassah.
The Tarnoffs are mem-
bers of the Jewish Associa-
tion for Retarded Citizens.

U.S. Programs
Boost Israel"

JERUSALEM (JNI) —
Some 7,000 Jewish youths
will participate in Ameri-
can Zionist Youth Founda-
tion (AZYF) programs in Is-
rael this summer.
Emphasis has also been
placed this summer on
bringing entire Jewish
families to Israel for one
month, to work in a new set-
tlement, Kibutz or de-
velopment town, to volun-
teer in the Gadna army
corps or a Jewish National
Fund (JNF) forest or to
study in a Jerusalem
yeshiva. Within this
framework, the WZO Aliya
department will sponsor
250 North American Jewish
families and the Conserva-
tive movement expects 560
USY members to visit Israel
this summer.

Nursery Adds
Science Class

Adat Shalom Nursery
School is introducing Super
Science, a class devoted to
experiences and experi-
ments which present sci-
ence as an integral pJrtion
of a young child's life. The
class will meet at 12:30 p.m.
Thursdays. There, is an op-
tional lunch program pre-
ceding Super Science.
Janet Pont, nursery
school director, announces
that this program also is
open to kindergarteners.
Applications are now
being accepted for parent/
toddler classes, which are
taught by Ms. Pont, on
Monday and Wednesday
mornings. Classes will start
the end of September.
