AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR
HAMILTON PLACE MEMBERS!

FOR 1
YEAR

Ambulances are equipped
with two-way radios linking
them both to their MDA
emergency medical clinics
and to the MDA regional
communications centers
throughout Israel.
The five hundred
seventy-six fully equip-
ped standard ambu-
lances treat seriously ill
patients as well as vic-
tims of accidents while
enroute to the hospital.
All ambulance personnel
are also proficient in the
techniques of midwifery,
enabling them to deliver
babies born in the ve-
hicles.
There are 28 Mobile In-
tensive Care Units that are
equipped with sophisticated
instruments for the diag-
nosis and treatment of car-
diac patients as well as
those suffering serious

trauma. They are linked by
telemetry equipment to the
coronary care sections of
nearby hospitals, enabling
the attending physician to
provide the required treat-
ment enroute. There are
also neonatal MIC U's for
transfer of premature and
high-risk newborns to hos-
pitals.
Twenty-two
Blood-
mobiles collect blood dona-
tions and supply rapid
transport of blood to hospi-
tals throughout Israel.
There is a turnover of
some 70 ambulances per
year- for which MDA re-
quires replacements.
Generous contributors pro-
vide these ambulances
through American Red
Magen David for Israel. The
phased-out ambulances are
posted to kibutzim and bor-
der settlements.

Paris Newspaper Editor
Fined for Inciting Hatred

PARIS (JTA) — Serge
July, editor of the leftwing
daily Liberation, was found
guilty of "incitement to ra-
cial hatred" by a French
court Monday for publish-
ing a letter last summer
threatening violent retalia-
tion against Jews who sup-
port Israel.
The panel of three judges
fined July 5,000 Francs
($7000) on grounds that an
editor "should exert a pro-
per control" over what is
published in the form of let-
ters from readers. July and
his paper, which is known
for its anti-racist and
humanitarian positions,
were sued by the Interna-
tional League Against
Anti-Semitism and Racism
(LICRA).

The letter came from an
Arab resident of France who
wrote that in retaliation for
Israel's bombing of Beirut,
Arabs would launch ter-
rorist attacks in Europe not
only against Israeli targets
but against all Jews who
support Israel. The court
held that the letter was "an
open appeal to murder
which became a real threat
because of a tense and exp-
losive situation."

• The terrorist attack on
the Jo Goldenberg restau-
rant on the Rue Des Rosiers
in the old Jewish quarter of
Paris occurred nine days
after the letter appeared in
Liberation. The grenade as-
sault killed six and
wounded 22 people.

GENEVA (JTA) — The
European regional meeting
which opened here Monday
to prepare for the United
Nations sponsored confer-
ence on Palestine was un-
able to find a chairman from
what the organizer consider
a "respectable" country,
meaning an at least moder-
ately important European
state.
Both Austria and Yugos-
lavia declined but the latter
agreed to provide one of
three vice chairmen. The
others were from Czechos-
lovakia and Malta. Dele-
gates from most Western
European countries have
failed to -show up. Partici-

pants at the preparatory
meeting are Finland, Swe-
den, Greece, Portugal, Au-
stria, Malta, Spain, Turkey
and Cyprus.
The conference, to be held
here Aug. 16-24, has been
ill-starred from the outset.
Originally scheduled for
Paris, the French govern-
ment refused to play host, as
did the Austrian govern-
ment. The Swiss reluctantly
agreed to have the gather-
ing at Geneva. All three
governments cited the se-
vere security burden the
conference would impose
and the possibility that it
would attract terrorist ele-
ments.

Town Withdraws Hitler Honor

BONN (JTA) — Thirty-
eight years after Hitler's
death, the town of Hagen in
North Rhine - Westphalia
has decided to deprive the
Fuehrer of the honorary
citizenship it bestowed on
him on April 8,, 1933,
shortly after he became
Chancellor of the Third Re-
ich.
The town council with-
drew the honor because of
Hitler's criminal acts.
Hagen is the second West
German town to do so;

Paderborn was the first.
More than a dozen other
towns throughout Germany
have failed to take similar
action.
The Interior Minister of
North Rhine - Westphalia
explained that the title of
honorary citizen normally
expires with the death of the
person concerned.

The education of the
human mind commences in
cradle.
