Survey Shows
MDs Underpaid
TEL AVIV (ZINS) — Be-
fore reaching a new agree-
ment with the government,
striking doctors were the
lowest paid professional
group in Israel, according to
a Histadrut bulletin.
A survey by the physi-
cians union reported that a
doctor in a public service
facility was compensated at
the rate of approximately $4
per hour while an engineer
earned $15-$30 per hour
and an hour's pay in the De-
fense Ministry was pegged
at $18-$25.
The Detroit Chapter of
the American Jewish Con-
gress will hold a public the-
ater party 7 p.m. Sunday at
United Hebrew Schools.
"The Search," a film star-
ring Montgomery Clift and
Aline MacMahon, will be
featured.
The film takes place in
Berlin, Germany following
World War II. An American
soldier, played by
Montgomery Clift, cares for
a young boy who has sur-
vived a concentration camp.
The boy's mother, played by
Jarmila Novotna, searches
frantically for him. Aline
MacMahon plays the role of
a United Nations worker
assisting refugees. Pro-
duced in 1948 by Lazar
Wechsler for MGM, it was
directed by Fred Zin-
nemann and written by
