"Re- member This Time" is the story of the Chodoroffs who suffered through five ruling governments, the Russians, Germans, Poles, Bolsheviks and again the Poles, before sailing at last for their haven in Detroit. There is a genesis to the publication of this tale. Esther Margolis was par- ticipating in a mourning period, the Shiva, for the sister of her mother Kala. She took notes, made tape recordings of her family's oft-related experiences and planned to have it for her newly-formed publishing house, Newmarket Press (which she organized after a career with Bantam Books). She planned to have her cousin Gloria Broder share with her in the preparation of the family chronicle. Instead, Gloria and her husband, Bill, undertook the job and made it the reality it will be acclaimed at the Aug. 2 party to be held at the main Jewish Community Center. Two parties will inau- gurate the book, which is due off the press Aug. 1. The Detroit Jewish Community Center func- tion Aug. 2 will be a mis- hpaha fete and 400 mem- bers of the families and friends are expected to attend. Another party will be held in San Fran- cisco, the home of the Broder authors.
