or odd taste, chances are the
oil has been reused too
much.
In the evening, quite a
few Orientals are at New
Mandarin Gardens . . . Ko-
reans have their own sepa-
rate menu . . . which in-
clude§ dishes like hard-to-
`find Yam Jam Pi Chap Chi
with its two sections .. .
Original northern chops
suey atop paper-thin bean
sheets is the hot portion .. .
cold includes scallops,
shrimp, beef or chicken, sea
cucumbers, raw cucumbers,
fresh carrots and special
hand-made tomato flower
. . . making for a pretty as
well as tasty dish.
We had lunch recently
. . . full-bodied, very
healthy spice-and-sour
made with lilly flour from
plant of same name,
wood ear mushrooms,
juice of soy bean, egg
drops, sesame oil, special
imported Japanese white
pepper, etc. ... This too
can be had mild, hot or
very hot ... Our Manda-
rin Garlic Chicken was
superb ... mostly white
chicken meat lightly
breaded ... not over-
powering with vegeta-
bles and sauce.
Very delightful, courte-
ous and most efficient wait-
ress, Cho Sungae, was a
pleasure.
No MSG is used when re-
quested ... and food is
cooked only when ordered.
The food is different at
New Mandarin Gardens .. .
and drawing much com-
ment.
