Striking MDs Switch Tactics

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Gov-
ernment - employed doctors,
in their 105th day of a strike
for salary increases, are re-
sorting to new pressures to
force an adamant Treasury
to comply with their de-
mands. About a dozen doc-
tors at the Soroka Hospital
in Beersheva, began a
hunger strike Tuesday. It
was expected to spread
quickly to hospitals in
Safed, Nahariya and other
parts of the country.
The doctors have also
begun a tactic intended to
make it more expensive for
the government to resist
their demands than to com-
ply. They are admitting
patients to already over-
crowded hospitals who, or-
dinarily, would not be hos-

pitalized. They are prescrib-
ing expensive medications
not necessarily required
and ordering a long series of
costly tests.

Laxalt Urges
Closer Ties
for U.S., Israel

Maxwell House: Coffee
Is Hospitality.

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
Sen. Paul Laxalt (R-Nev.)
called for "closer consulta-
tion" between the United
States and Israel, saying
that past confrontations
over policy decisions
"should have been quietly
resolved between two na-
tions whose interests and
people are so intertwined."
Laxalt, who is President
Reagan's closest personal
friend in Congress, said: "I
know the President is in-
terested in seeing this closer
consultation and I am sure
Israel's government feels
the same way . . . It is time
that we get on with it— let's
start talking more."

Lox 'n bagels 'n cream cheese is al-
most as much a part of a traditional
Jewish household as the Mezuzah on
the door. And the most natural ac-
companiment to this American
gastronomical innovation is Maxwell
House° Coffee.
The full-pleasant aroma and great-
tasting, satisfying
good flavor of
Maxwell House°

The anthem "Hatikva"
means "The Hope."

A living tradition in Jewish homes or over half a century

has been delighting lovers of good
food for half a century. And why not?
Who would ever think of serving
first-rate food without great coffee!
So, no matter what your preference—
instant or gound—when you pour
Maxwell House°, you pour flavor. At
its most Satisfying—consistently cup
after cup after cup.
