JERUSALEM — A crowd
of demonstrators, shouting
anti-Christian slogans,
tried last week to halt a per-
formance of Handel's "Mes-
siah" here by the Salt Lake
'City Oratoria Choir, police
reported.
A group of about 20 pro--
testers repeatedly inter-
rupted the performance
while more than 500 stu-
dents from Jewish
seminaries demonstrated
outside the auditorium, ac-
cording to police. Some of
the choir members were as-
saulted by demonstrators
and police said that 10
youths inside the hall were
arrested.
The students distributed
leaflets condemning "Chris-
tian religious ecstasy mixed
with missionary prop-
aganda dressed up as cul-
ture."

Services have been inaugu-
rated in Rehovot and
Natanya by Magen David
Adorn (MDA), Israel's
emergency medical service.
The ambulances, staffed by
trained MDA Paramedics,
respond to calls to help vic-
tims of cardiac arrest, acci-
dents and trauma. ,
The ambulances were
supplied by American Red
Magen David for Israel
(ARMDI) The U.S. support
group also provided funding
for the training of the
paramedic staff.
